PresidentJonathan convenes security council meeting

President Goodluck Jonathan on
Monday met behind closed doors
with some security chiefs at the
Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, which was said to be
a routine one, was believed to have
reviewed the security situation
across the country.
Top on the agenda of the meeting,
our correspondent learnt, was the
latest violence being unleashed by
members of the Boko Haram sect
on Adamawa, Yobe and Gombe
states.
Members of the sect were said to
have overran and hoisted their flag
in Mubi, Adamawa State, and were
even said to be advancing towards
the state capital.
The meeting held less than 24
hours after an invasion of a prison
in Koton-Karfi in Kogi State.
The heads of the Nigeria Police,
Army, Navy and Air Force attended
the meeting.
They did not speak with State
House correspondents at the end
of the parley.
Meanwhile, Jonathan has also
summoned a meeting of the
Council of State.
The meeting holds at the
Presidential Villa, Abuja on
Tuesday.
The council is an organ of
government and its functions
include advising the executive on
policy making.
