Dangote Donates Money To Help Fight Ebola Curse In Nigeria

Nigeria and Africa’s richest man,
and head of the Dangote group
Aliko Dangote has given
N150million to Nigeria in efforts to
curb the Ebola virus and take it
out of the nation.
Chief Executive Officer of the
Dangote Foundation, Mrs
Adhiambo Odaga said this at a
press briefing at the health
ministry, at Abuja on Monday.
She said: “After bilateral
discussion with the honourable
minister and his team, Dangote
foundation has funded the
establishment of the Ebola
emergency operation in Lagos,
that is being done through grant
from the foundation of just a little
over N150 million”.
“The strategy that our chairman is
deploying is the strategy to
respond and to commend
government for the effort, and to
show that all Nigerians are
concerned.
We will continue to discuss with
the ministry about what additional
support can be offered.
“And we also have been
approached by several parties who
are interested in partnering with
the government, and we would
continue that discussion.”
Odaga relayed Dangote’s call to all
Nigerians to join the federal
government in the fight against
Ebola, expressing optimism that
the disease would be contained.
“The choice of the emergency
operation centre as an investment
for Dangote Foundation is based
on the fact that is the critical
platform through
which the government is
coordinating all that is happening
to ensure that the crisis is
contained,” she added.
With the amount of corruption in
Nigeria, should he have just
bought items and donated it to the
health sector?

Stop Telling Nigerians Not To Eat Bush Meat…National Hunters’ Association Cries Out

The National Hunters’ Association
of Nigeria has told the government
to stop telling Nigerians not to
consume bush meat because it
has affected their business
drastically in the last few days and
its also driving its members into
unemployment.
The association made this known
while addressing journalists in
Lagos during a conference held
with journalists to address the
situation.
The President of the group, Chief
Ishola Olasehinde while speaking at
the conference said;
“We want to use this medium to
tell the government that our
businesses have been affected
since they have informed people to
stop consuming bush meat to
prevent Ebola.
This is our only means of
sustenance. Even if there is any
virus in these animals, once they
are boiled and fried, it gets killed.
Government should include hunters
in their research if they really want
to prove that bush meat causes
Ebola.
We hunters are the ones who
protect the country’s borders from
being invaded by nomads from
Mali and Lake Chad. If not for our
activities in the forest, Boko
Haram members would have taken
control of many cities in the
country. This is not the way the
government should reward us,” he
said.

Boko Haram Seizes Four Towns In Borno And Yobe State

Last week, Boko Haram men took
over four towns in Borno and Yobe
states after a gun battle with
military men guarding the
areas.The four towns they seized
are; Gwoza in Borno state and
Buni Yadi, Buni Gari and Goniri, all
in Gujba local government area of
Yobe State.
Not only did they overwhelm the
Nigerian soldiers deployed to
guard the towns, they also killed at
least 100 residents, including the
brother of Emir of Gwosa and the
chief Imam of Gwoza’s major
Mosque. Continue…
A top security source told Sahara
Reporters that Boko Haram had
successfully beaten back three
separate columns of Nigerian
troops from Gwoza. “The most
recent was a team of soldiers led
by Lieutenant Colonel Agwu of the
former Special Operations
Battalion (SOB) now 234
Battalion,” the source said.
Security sources also disclosed
that the sect killed or wounded
numerous Nigerian soldiers during
their initial assault and, days later,
in a counter-offensive mounted by
the Nigerian Army to try to wrest
the town back from the
stranglehold of the Islamists.
The militants are now said to be
occupying camps abandoned by
soldier after they fled from a series
of fierce battles Boko Haram.
Boko Haram also bombed Katako
Bridge that links Buni Yadi with
Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
The Nigerian army are said to be
planning to retake the four towns.

STRANGE!!! Man Arrested For Having S.ex With Dead Bodies In Ebonyi

The suspect was accused of killing
women and then having intercourse
with their lifeless bodies…..
The police in Ebonyi have arrested
a young man on allegations of
m****r and necrophilia.
The 20-year-old, identified simply
as Chukwuma, is said to have
taken the lives of 3 women after
which he had s*x with the corpses.
Details of the crime were made
known by the Police Public
Relations Officer for the state,
Chris Anyanwu.
He said:
“We nabbed him after placing
surveillance at a particular farm,
where he usually waylays women
who are going to farm or coming
back from farm.
We got the information that he
had killed three women in the
same way. He has the habit of
waylaying the women on lonely
bush path.
Whenever a woman passes through
the place he pounces on her and
strangles her to death and has s*x
with the dead body.
“One of these women’s name is
Anyigor from the same village. On
July 15, she went to farm at a
place called Okwulike but never
returned.
Then, when he was later arrested,
he (the suspect) confessed that he
was hanging around that farm
area when he saw the woman who
is late now, and pounced on her,
strangled her to death by grabbing
her neck region until she gave up
before he had s*x with the dead
woman and robbed her of N8,500 ,
which he found on her.
“The suspect said he used the
money to buy Nokia handset
phone and used the remaining
money to drink local gin called
‘kaikai’.
“The second incident happened a
week after, on July 23, the victim
is Mrs. Helen, a 54-year-old
woman, who went to Egiagu village
to farm and never returned.
“So, alarmed by her non-return,
her son alerted the villagers and a
search party later found her dead
body along the lonely farm path.
When Chukwuma was arrested, he
confessed that he strangled the
woman the same way he strangled
the other two women.
The suspect reportedly blamed his
actions on his annoyance with the
people of the community who had
taken to calling him a nickname he
did not like.

The late Bartholomew, a
vulcanizer, died in an accident on
his way to Church for his wedding
ceremony in Ekwuluobia Anambra,
yesterday.
According to reports, he was being
conveyed on a high capacity
motorcycle around 9:30am by his
Best Man, from their home to the
church in Ekwuluobia where the
bride was already waiting for him.
Tragedy struck when the two
friends ran into a stationary
Camry car and the driver of the car
suddenly opened the door
oblivious of the motorcycle coming
behind reportedly on a high speed.
Although, his Best Man sustained
minor injuries, the groom was hit
hard by the door – he landed on
the tarred road hitting his head
against the hard surface and died
on the spot.

for treatment.

Jonathan In 2015: Yes Or No? Presidency Silent On Jonathan’s 2015 Intentions

President Goodluck Jonathan is
yet to officially declare his
intention (or lack thereof) to run
for a second term, as the 2015
general and presidential elections
loom nearer.
Jonathan, as the Sunday
Independent notes, has used every
opportunity to wave the issue
aside while urging other
presidential aspirants to go ahead
with their own declarations. Thus,
his plans to that effect have been
kept in closed wraps.
However, his aides maintained that
he will speak on the issue at the
most appropriate time.
Also, while it is certain that he will
contest for the election, his aides
have been reluctant to speak on
his decision for 2015, more so as
the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) is yet to
announce the flag off of
electioneering campaigns for
politicians.
Nonetheless, Jonathan remains the
major unofficial aspirant for the
presidential seat under the
umbrella of the ruling Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) come
2015 and whose eventual
candidacy can be taken for
granted.
Not only is he the incumbent
President with a right to run for a
second term, there are yet no
known serious rivals or contenders
to the seat within the PDP.
According to Sunday Independent‘s
sources, the PDP is planning to
hold a mini-convention in the next
few weeks during which Jonathan
is expected to make a formal
declaration of his ambition to go
for re-election.
The convention, which will officially
pick the party’s presidential
flagbearer for the 2015 election
should be a walkover and mere
formality for Jonathan, as the
party hierarchy is already working
for his re-election.
The party’s National Chairman,
Adamu Muazu, is said to be
streamlining the process of
selecting delegates from the states
and local government councils for
the convention to make them fewer
and reduce possibilities and areas
of friction during the event.
Chairman of the party’s Board of
Trustees (BoT), Tony Anenih, had
in the aftermath of the upheaval
that resulted from the party’s last
convention in Abuja, urged
Jonathan to openly declare his
ambition and douse tension, a
move the President declined to
make.
The crisis had pitched pro-
Jonathan party faithful against
those who did not want him to run
for re-election, including governors
and federal lawmakers.
Eventually, five of the aggrieved
governors, as well as lawmakers
and some party chieftains defected
to the rival All Progressives
Congress (APC).
The calm that returned to the PDP
thereafter has enabled Jonathan to
consolidate his hold on the party
machinery in the run-up to the
2015 presidential election.
Only last week in Calabar, Cross
Rivers State, Anenih became the
highest-ranking party member to
confirm that Jonathan will indeed
contest for re-election next year.
