The #Osun2014 Upsets: Akande, Bello, Obada, Oyinlola, Olaoluwa All Lose In Their Polling Units

As we continue to await the results
of the #Osun2014 election, some
results from polling units in the
state showed remarkable upsets
from both the PDP and APC sides.
First, the former Osun State
Governor, Prince Olagunsoye
Oyinlola, who was welcomed into
the APC with much fanfare on
Tuesday, lost in his polling unit in
Okuku Ward of Odo-Otin Local
Government Area.
The result from the Unit 3, Ward 1,
where Oyinlola voted, showed that
while the APC got 61 votes, the
PDP got 125 votes.
Another former governor who lost
his polling unit was Bisi Akande
who ruled from 1999 to 2003, and
was until recently the national
chairman of the APC. Akande’s
APC lost at his Ise Odo Unit in Ila
Orangun by 93 votes to the PDP’s
97.
PDP chieftains also suffered big
losses in the state. The most high
profile loss was Hon. Adejare
Bello, the running mate to the PDP
candidate, Iyiola Omisore. Bello
lost in his polling unit in Ede as
his party scored just 30 votes
while the PDP garnered 130 votes.
Nigeria’s former Minister of State
for Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada,
who was a dormer deputy governor
as well, lost in her polling unit in
Ibodi, Atakunmosa West local
government area. Whereas the
APC scored 300 votes there, the
PDP got just 3 votes.
The state chairman of PDP, Alhaji
Gani Olaoluwa also lost the
election in his Olorunda Local
Government polling unit where PDP
scored 95 votes as against APC’s
142 votes.
